Admissions Guide for the 2022 Fall Semester of the Long-term Chinese Language Program

Ocean University of China (OUC) was founded in 1924. It is a key comprehensive university under the direct administration of the Chinese Ministry of Education, with strengths in oceanography and fisheries and a complete range of disciplines. It is also one of the key universities in the country’s Project 985 and Project 211. In September 2017, it was included in Class A of the country’s plan of building Double First Class Universities”. The university is located in Qingdao, a city known as the Oriental Switzerland. There are four campuses, Laoshan, Yushan, Fushan and the new campus on Qingdao’s west coast (under construction), with 21 colleges and a Teaching Center of Fundamental Courses.

The Chinese language program aims at strengthening students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. According to the candidates’levels of Chinese, introductory classes (Class A, Class B), intermediate classes (Class C, Class D), and advanced classes (Class E) are offered. Each semester, 4-5 courses are offered, which mainly focus on intensive reading, speaking, listening, reading, writing and newspaper reading. A semester consists of 18 weeks. On weekdays, there are four classes in the morning, and one or two classes of Chinese culture in the afternoon, such as calligraphy, Tai Chi and Peking Opera, to name a few.

I. Application Requirements

Eligibility: 16 ~ 60 years old, in good health.

Application period:March tothe end of June, 2022.

Date of Registration: Subject to school notice.

Duration: One semester to two academic years.

Application Materials: Application Form, Scanned Copy of the First Page of Passport & a 2-Inch Photo, Certificate of Highest Academic Qualification and Transcript, Resume (Chinese or English translation), Physical Examination,Bank Statement (Bank Statement of 20,000 RMB is required for applicants who apply for one academic year and above); Work Certificate (for those with work experience), Certificate of Non-criminal Record.

III. Fee and Payment

1.Fee Scale

Application fee: 400 RMB/person

Tuition: 7,000 RMB/semester

Accommodation fee: 5,500 RMB/semester/bed (double room); 2,000 RMB/bed for winter and summer breaks

Insurance: 400 RMB/ semester; 800 RMB/year
