I. Brief Introduction

Higher agricultural education

As one of the cornerstones of China's higher agricultural education, Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) was formerly founded by Zhang Zhidong as Hubei Agricultural School in 1898. Surrounded by hills and lakes, the University is located in Wuhan, Hubei province. HZAU is an ideal university which inspires students with excellent education. With a long history of over 120 years, HZAU has been coordinately developing multidisciplinary research programs, covering Science, Engineering, Social Science and Humanities, leading in Agriculture and featured by Life Science.

Campus environment

The campus, surrounded by the lake on three sides, is located in the main urban area of Wuhan city, Hubei province. Huazhong Agricultural University has 5 square kilometers of landscape campus, 9 kilometers of splendor lake shoreline, 10 kilometers of "Linzhong road" and 6.6 kilometers of Huguang greenway. The beauty of the campus can not only let you enjoy the natural scenery, but also enjoy the cultural landscape with Chinese cultural characteristics.

Advantageous disciplines

Five disciplines including Biology, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Medicine, and Agricultural and Forestry Economic Management were selected as the national "double first-class" construction disciplines. Seven disciplines have entered Class A disciplines, among which Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine are A+, Biology, Crop Science and Aquaculture are A, while Agriculture and Forestry Economic Management are A -. According to the "Essential Science Indicators" database (ESI) of the American Institute of Information Technology, 12 disciplinary fields in our school have entered the top 1% of ESI, and 2 disciplinary fields have entered the top 1 ‰, distributed in 6 categories such as Agriculture, Life Sciences, Science, Engineering, Medicine, and Social Sciences. 

Complete education system

There are 17 colleges (departments), 64 undergraduate majors, 27 first-class disciplines authorized for Master's degree, 16 authorized categories for Master's degree, 15 first-class disciplines authorized for Doctoral degree, 4 authorized categories for Doctoral degree, and 15 mobile stations for post-doctoral research in Huazhong Agricultural University. As a university with an attraction for students from all over the world, we have 32982 full-time students, including 19022 undergraduates, 10566 master students, 3394 doctoral students and 456 international students.

Scientific strength

There are two national key laboratories and more than 100 professional laboratories in Huazhong Agricultural University. In the past 5 years, HZAU has been approved with 7019 scientific research projects which have a funding of 4.91 billion yuan. Tremendous achievements have been made in the fields of hybrid canola seeds, green rice, high-quality pigs, animal vaccines, premium citrus, test-tube potatoes and corns, freshwater fish, etc. 

Colorful campus life

HZAU offers a conducive academic environment, living, and cultural resources to make the student life more valuable, colorful, vibrant and enjoyable. There are 90 student-led associations, covering six domains: volunteer center, scientific innovation, culture, sports, arts, and outward bound, all of which International students are welcome to join. HZAU also promotes cross-cultural communication, including holding different kinds of activities like Chinese Language Corner, Color Run, “Better Me” communication activities and “Experience China” activities, etc. 

II. How to Apply

You should choose a program you are interested in.

2. Acceptance letter

To get better understanding of your major and the supervisor you expect, you can contact with professors of HZAU to get an Acceptance Letter. You can get professor's information via the website: http://ic.hzau.edu.cn/.

3. Online application

For the Chinese Government Scholarship, please also submit your application online by the website: https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register (CSC application system). Please notice that HZAU institution code is 10504.

(4)Admission decision

International Students Office of HZAU will issue admission decision via the online application system and send confirmation email to the selected students.

III. Scholarships

1. Chinese Government Scholarship

(1)Overview

Chinese Government Scholarship-University Postgraduates Program is established by the Ministry of Education of P.R. China (hereinafter referred to as MOE). China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as CSC), entrusted by the MOE, holds the responsibility of the verification, approval and the routine management of the program. 

(2)Eligible applicant

①Be non-Chinese citizens in good health

②Applicants for Master's and Doctoral Programs

③Applicants for a Master's degree must have obtained a Bachelor's Degree and be under the age of 35.

④Applicants for Doctoral degree must have obtained a Master's Degree and be under the age of 40.

⑤Language proficiency

Chinese Medium Program: HSK level 5 or above.

English Medium Program: Good command of English: TOEFL (IBT 80), IELTS 6.0 or higher; or other official English test recognized by HZAU.

(3)Values of the scholarship

①Tuition waiver

②Free university accommodation

③Stipend: Master's students/General scholars: 3,000 RMB/month; Doctoral students/Senior scholars: 3,500 RMB/month

④Comprehensive medical insurance

2. Huazhong Agricultural University Scholarship

(1)Overview

Huazhong Agricultural University Scholarship is established by Huazhong Agricultural University (HZAU) to encourage and support some excellent foreign students to study at HZAU as Master's or Doctoral students.

(2)Eligible applicant

①Be non-Chinese citizens in good health

②Applicants for Master's and Doctoral Programs

③Applicants for a Master's degree must have obtained a Bachelor's Degree and be under the age of 35.

④Applicants for Doctoral degree must have obtained a Master's Degree and be under the age of 40.

⑤Language proficiency

Chinese Medium Program: HSK level 5 or above.

English Medium Program: Good command of English: TOEFL (IBT 80), IELTS 6.0 or higher; or other official English test recognized by HZAU.

(3)Values of the scholarship

①Tuition waiver

②Free university accommodation

③Stipend: Master's students/General scholars: 2,100 RMB/month; Doctoral students/Senior scholars: 2,500 RMB/month

IV. Fee Structure

Top tips: “C” stands for Chinese-taught program and “E” for English-taught program. Tuition fee waiver if no course credit needed.
