I. MajorArchitecture (International Class) 

II. Qualifications 

Over 18 years old, high school graduate or above, non-Chinese citizen, and in good health.

Note: The No.12 Document of 2020 issued by the Ministry of Education, PRC is administered by the University. Two important items of the Document are to note. First, according to Article 5 of Nationality Law of The People's Republic of China, 'a person whose parents are both Chinese nationals and have both settled abroad, or one of whose parents is a Chinese national and has settled abroad, and who has acquired foreign nationality at birth shall not have Chinese nationality.' 

Since 2021, those applying to study at universities or junior colleges as international students, should satisfy the following additional requirements: the applicants must hold valid foreign passport or other relevant international recognized documents for at least 4 years; meanwhile, in the latest 4 years (by each April 30th of the year of University registration), the applicants must live overseas for 2 years (Living overseas for 9 months can be converted to 1 year, which is subject to the exit-entry stamp on visa.). Second, those who immigrated to other countries from the Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan and apply to study as international students at universities or junior colleges of China are required to satisfy the requirement of the first item.

III. Application Materials 

1. "Application Form for International Students" of Tongji University. (V.See the Application Procedure for downloading the form")

2. A photocopy of passport (pages with photo). 

3. High school graduation certificate. If the certificate is not in Chinese or English, the notarized translated versions must be submitted.

Certificate of expected graduation issued by senior high school (for applicants who will be graduating from senior high school in July 2020 only). Senior high school diploma is required to be verified and notarized documents must be submitted at the registration. 

4. Original or notarized academic records of senior high school. If the academic records are not in Chinese or English, the notarized translated versions must be submitted.

* The photocopy of the certificate or academic records should be authenticated by Foreign Embassies or Chinese Consulates.

5. Copy of English Language Certificate (Students can provide Language Certificate at the registration day.)

IELTS 6.5, TOEFL IBT84 or above

6. The portfolio (It must be a maximum of five pages A4 format.)

The portfolio is a selected collection of creative work that will provide initial evidence of your talent and potential in visual art, design, conceptual thinking and craftsmanship. This portfolio should be considered as a summary of your best creative outputs.

* Application documents will not be returned. 

7.  Physical examination form (within the past six months);

8.  Other supporting application materials (such as award certificates, etc.)  

Interview process is required for this program. 

*In addition to the application materials mentioned above, the university may require applicants to provide supplementary materials, depending on the circumstances. The application fee is nonrefundable and the application documents will not be returned. 

IV. Application Procedure 

1. Complete the Tongji Online Application procedure at the website http://study-info.tongji.edu.cn/member/login.do 

2. Pay the application fee by bank transfer and submit the photocopy of transfer voucher with other documents or pay it directly when submitting the documents at international student office. 

3. After completing the online review in the registration system，applicants can submit the documents in person (or entrust others to submit) or send the documents by post. Application documents should be received before deadline, or it will be considered as a waiver of application. 

Note: The enrollment and admission mode of Tongji University is based on the assessment of the application materials and interview performance; interview time will be informed later. 

V. Expenses 

Application fee: 600RMB

*Application fee should be paid when applying and the fee is non- refundable.

*The registration fee can be paid when applying online. If the registration fee is paid by bank transfer, a copy of the transfer voucher must be submitted together with other application materials (also payable on-site at the time of submission) 

VI.  Admission

1. Please pay attention to the application status of the online system. Once accepted, the application status will change to the Admission Status. The Admission Notice and the Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202) will be sent by the International Student Office of Tongji University.

2. The accepted applicants should go to the Chinese embassy (consulate) to apply for an entry study visa with ordinary passport, the Tongji University Admission Notice, and the Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202). All the accepted applicants should register at Tongji University on time with the materials above and apply for the residence permit of the Shanghai Municipal Public Security Bureau Exit-Entry Administration
