International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship
To meet the growing demand of international community for Chinese language teachers and to facilitate Chinese language education in other countries, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) offers the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship and, together with Southwest University (SWU), establishes the Southwest University International Chinese Teacher Scholarship.
We welcome outstanding students and currently-employed Chinese language teachers around the world to devote themselves to the study of international Chinese language education and related areas with this scholarship in our university!
I. ELIGIBILITY
All applicants should be:
a) non-Chinese citizens;
b) in good physical and mental conditions, and with clean profile and good academic performance;
c) committed to Chinese language education or related work;
d) between the age of 16 and 35 (as of September 1st, 2022). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall be under 45; and undergraduate applicants, under 25.

The International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship provides tuition fee, accommodation fee, living allowance (four-week program students excluded) and comprehensive medical insurance. The monthly allowance for undergraduates, one-year and one-semester students is 2500 yuan. For master students, 3000 yuan. For more information, please click:

Southwest University International Chinese Teacher Scholarship is established for Confucius Institutes/Classrooms willing to cooperate with SWU in order to support undergraduate and graduate students majoring in TCSOL. See admission requirements and funding details above.
IV. APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Online application will be open from March 1st, 2021. Please log on to your account at http://cis.chinese.cn and search for SWU; complete all the information sheets and upload application materials; and track the application progress, comments and result. Scholarship holders need to confirm with SWU to go through the procedures of studying in China, print out the scholarship certificate online, and register at SWU on the designated date as per the letter of admission.

a) May 15th, 2022 (programs commencing in Sept. 2022)
b) Nov. 15th, 2022 (programs commencing in March, 2023)

NOTES ON RECOMMENDING INSTITUTIONS:
a) Please refer to the scholarship website for all listed recommending institutions, including Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms, certain HSK test centers, Chinese language (education) departments of foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language instruction of other countries, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad.
b) SWU founded four Confucius Institutes/Classrooms in Canada, Thailand and Kazakhstan. Applicants in these countries can contact Confucius Institutes/Classrooms for recommendation (see the table below). Applicants from other countries shall contact institutions in their home country.
c) SWU is a HSK/HSKK test center with scholarship recommendation qualification, therefore applicants can also send the documents listed in Annex 2 to SWU via Email for recommendation.
d) Chinese Bridge winners who have been awarded the 2021 International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate shall log onto the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website and submit documents (including the certificate) directly to SWU.
