Chinese Government Scholarship for Master’s and Doctoral Programs

In a bid to promote mutual understanding, cooperation and exchanges in various fields between China and other countries, the Chinese government has set up a series of scholarship programs to sponsor international students, teachers and scholars to study and conduct research in Chinese universities. China Scholarship Council (CSC), entrusted by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China (MOE), is responsible for the enrollment and administration of these Chinese Government Scholarship programs.

China University of Petroleum is one of the universities approved by MOE to admit all types of Chinese Government Scholarship students.

Criteria & Eligibility

(1) Applicant must be a non-Chinese citizen and be in good health.

(2) Applicant must be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs.

(3) Applicant must be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs.

Application Time: Between 1 January and 31 March

Application Procedures

(1) Register via the Chinese Government Scholarship Online Application System for International Students(http://www.campuschina.org/), choose Type B(our agency number 10425), complete online information and submit.

(2) Students should log into the UPC International Student Online Application System (https://upc.17gz.org), register a Chinese Government Scholarship applicant account, fill in their personal information and upload the required application documents.

Application Documents

(1) Notarized highest diploma and transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Applicants that have not graduated should provide a study certificate/pre-graduation certificate. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached together with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

(2) Research Proposal/Study Plan in China with a minimum of 1000 words in Chinese/English Download

(3) Two recommendation letters from professors/associate professors in Chinese/English

(4) UPC graduate supervisor's acceptance letter (if available)

(5) Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy) Download

The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the results are valid for only 6 months.
