2022 Shanghai Government Scholarship
Overview
1. Supporting Categories: This scholarship only supports Chinese-taught undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
2. Duration: bachelor students for no more than 4 academic years; master's students for no more than 2 academic years; PhD no more than 4 academic years.

3. Scholarship Coverage:
Type A (for postgraduate programs)
A tuition waiver, free on-campus accommodation, monthly living allowance (master 3,000 RMB/month, PhD 3,500 RMB/month) and comprehensive insurance.
Type B (for undergraduate programs)
A tuition waiver, comprehensive insurance.
Application requirements
1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People's Republic of China, and be in good health.
2. Academic qualification & Age
Bachelor's program applicants should be at 18-25 years old with a completed high school diploma by September 1, 2022.
Master's program applicants should be under the age of 35 with a completed a bachelor's degree by September 1, 2022.
PhD degree applicants should be under the age of 40 with a completed a master's degree by September 1, 2022.
3.Language proficiency: new HSK 5 level (scored at least 180)

We will consider applications from January 1, 2022 to March 30, 2022.

Step 1
Submit the scholarship application at http://study.edu.sh.gov.cn/apply/, print out the scholarship application form and sign on it.
Step 2
Remit the unrefundable application fee (830RMB).
Only bank transfer is accepted.
If payment is made in China, please fill in with payee's information in Chinese.

Step 3
Submit the program application (including the scholarship application form) at SUFE Applicant Portal http://ao.sufe.edu.cn.

(Scan and upload in the application portal. Paper documents are not required during 2022 application process.)
1. Official diploma and degree certificate
Applicants in the final year can submit the official pre-graduation certificate at the time of application. Applicants with diploma and degree certificate issued in a language other than English and Chinese, will need to submit both the original and official translation (Chinese/English) of their documents.
2. Academic transcript
It should be your official academic transcript(s), showing all the subjects studied and marks obtained. If you have already completed your degree, official degree certificate will be required. Applicants with academic documents issued in a language other than and Chinese, will need to submit both the original and official translation (Chinese/English) of their documents.

4. Personal statement
It should be 800-1000 words and written in Chinese.
Your personal statement should cover the areas outlined below.
-Explain why you wish to apply for this program and why you feel it matches your interests, academic background, and if relevant, your career plans
-List research findings or qualifications you have if applicable
5. One letter of reference (for Type B, written by high school teacher)/ two letters of reference (for Type A, at least one should come from academic resource, written by professors or associate professors)
It should be recent, dated, in English/Chinese, on letter-headed paper and with referee's contact details (email, phone number).
6. Passport identification page
Your passport should be valid beyond January 30, 2023.
7. Certificates of nationality, canceling the formal household registration in China, continuous residence in a foreign country for more than two years in the past four years (April 30, 2018 - April 30, 2022). (required for an applicant who has immigrated from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan to another country, an applicant who has acquired foreign nationality by birth but has studied at Chinese primary and secondary schools and has at least one parent who is Chinese. ) All the documents should be certified (and translated if documents are neither in English nor in Chinese) by an authorized person.
8. Others (optional): certificates recognizing awards, merits
* The Admission Office may ask for additional documents based on University and Government guidelines.
* The Admission Office will look for evidence for predicted qualification is realistic.
* All the original documents/certificates will be checked during registration in September 2022. If any falsehood is found, SUFE reserves the right to revoke admission.
* Shanghai Government Scholarship awardees are selected from those who are qualified and admitted to the degree programs in SUFE. Undergraduate program applicants with written examination exemption are not considered as the scholarship candidates, please refer to 2022 Undergraduate Program (Admission through Entrance Exam).
