Admission Requirement

  • Qualifications:
  • 1. Applicants should be healthy and well-behaved, and have a foreign citizenship and an educational background equivalent to that of the Chinese high school diploma.
    2. Applicants should have good academic records and provide the following documents (including but not limited to):
    2.1 High school transcripts (original/notarized copy in English or Chinese).
    2.2 Diploma of high school education or certificate of expected graduation (in Chinese or English).
    2.3 Results of international standardized tests.
    2.4 Applicants who have any learning experiences in any universities or colleges in
    China should provide Discipline Records from those institutions in China.
    3. Applicants should be 18 years old or over by Sept. 1,2022. For the applicants under 18 years old, please submit a Guardian Statement in the online application system.
    4. Chinese Language Requirements
    4.1 A minimum of HSK Level 5 is required for applicants who would like to study in the programs of science, engineering, medicine and liberal arts. Applicants who apply to study as a freshman in Chinese language program in School of International Education don't need to submit HSK certificate.
    4.2 Applicants, who haven't reached the required Chinese language level, can apply to study Chinese language in Wuhan University first. After obtaining HSK (level V) certificate, they can apply for the major study.
    5. English Language Requirements
    Non-native English speakers, who apply for English-taught programs, should provide a score report of English Proficiency test (TOEFL80). For applicants who cannot offer the above-mentioned standardized English test results, they will be required to participate in an additional oral or written English test organized by Wuhan University.
    6. Study Requirements for Ethnic Chinese
    If the applicant's parents are or one of the parents is Chinese, or the applicant has emigrated from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and acquired foreign nationality, according to the No.12 Announcement of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China (2020), they must be naturalized for 4 years or more (before April 30, 2022) and have more than 2 years of residence in foreign countries during this period (The actual residence in a foreign country for more than 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to the entry and exit stamps).
    Applicants born in foreign countries are required to meet the above criteria, and provide personal birth certificates and parents' nationality certificates.

  • 1. Front page of passport and visa page issued by Chinese embassies (if available).
    2. Diploma of high school education or certificate of expected graduation (in Chinese or English).
    3. High school transcripts (in Chinese or English).
    4. Score Report of HSK (Chinese medium programs only).
    5. Form for the Financial Sponsor (Supplementary as required).
    6. Score Report of English language test. e.g. TOEFL/IELTS/others (English medium programs only).
    7. Candidates who have any learning experiences in any universities or colleges in China should submit Discipline Records from those institutions in China.
    8. Receipt of application fee payment RMB 800 (equals to 111 USD for online payment).
    9. Physical examination report (the original report should be submitted when registering. Please visit http://admission.whu.edu.cn to check the information about validity period of the physical examination report and required items).
    Note: Applicants are required to submit sacnned copies of all required documents during application. All uploaded documents should be in Chinese or English: otherwise notarized translations in Chinese or English are required. The original documents and certified translations are to be submitted at registration.
