Beihang University Foreign Students Scholarship

Introduction

Article One: In order to encourage foreign students to study hard and to promote their innovation and creativity, Beijing Municipal Government and Beihang University (BUAA) have established the Self-Supported Foreign Students Scholarships. This regulation is constituted for the awarding of scholarship. Article Two: The whole selection process for awarding scholarship will be carried out under the principles of fairness, openness, equitableness and excellence-selected. Article Three: Self-supported Foreign Students Scholarships aims to award the self-supported foreign students including scholars, undergraduates, Master's Degree and Doctoral Degree candidates. Award grades of Self-Supported Foreign Students Scholarships are classified as Special Prize, First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize. The amount of First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize is 100% tuition fee free, 50% tuition fee free and 20% tuition fee free respectively. The amount of Special Prize is 100% tuition fee free as well as partial or overall living expense (refers to CSC Scholarship standards). Certificates will be awarded to the winners by International School.

Scholarship value

Award grades of Self-Supported Foreign Students Scholarships are classified as Special Prize, First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize. The amount of First Prize, Second Prize and Third Prize is 100 percent tuition fee free, 50 percent tuition fee free and 20 percent tuition fee free respectively. The amount of Special Prize is 100 percent tuition fee free as well as partial or overall living expense (refers to CSC Scholarship standards). Certificates will be awarded to the winners by International School.

Eligibility requirements

Application requirements of new self-supported undergraduates:
1. Applicants must be self-supported foreign students who will study for Bachelor's Degree in BUAA.
2. Applicants should abide by the laws and decrees of Chinese Government and observe rules and regulations of BUAA voluntarily.
3. Applicants have excellent results in senior high school.
4. Applicants have excellent results in entrance examinations.
5. Applicants do not obtain any other kind of support by organizations.
Application requirements of new self-supported graduates and scholars:
1. Applicants must be self-supported foreign students who will study for Master's and Doctoral Degree or do professional research in BUAA.
2. Applicants should abide by the laws and decrees of Chinese Government and observe rules and regulations of BUAA voluntarily.
3. Applicants should graduate from renowned universities and have excellent results or obtain great research achievements.
4. Applicants have excellent results in entrance examinations.
5. Applicants have outstanding achievements or have great potentials.
6. Applicants do not obtain any other kind of support by organizations.
Application requirements of current self-supported undergraduates:
1. Applicants must be self-supported undergraduates who have been enrolled in BUAA for one year in general.
2. Applicants should abide by the laws and decrees of Chinese Government and observe rules and regulations of BUAA voluntarily.
3. Applicants study hard and obtain the excellent results in recent academic year.
4. Applicants should participate in public benefit activities and practice organized by school and university actively.
Application requirements of current self-supported graduates and scholars:
1. Applicants must be current self-supported graduates and scholars who have been enrolled in BUAA for one year in general.
2. Applicants should abide by the laws and decrees of Chinese Government and observe rules and regulations of BUAA voluntarily.
3. Applicants should accord with one of the following requirements in recent academic year:
3.1 publish academic thesis as the first author (or the second author only when the supervisor is the first author) in important international publications (SCI or SSCI original periodicals), domestic core publications (EI original periodicals) or important international conferences (embodied in ISTP);
3.2 obtain great achievement in research program;
3.3 study hard and obtain the excellent results in recent academic year;
4. Applicants should participate in public benefit activities and practice organized by school and university actively.
Applicants will be ineligible for Self-supported Foreign Students Scholarships who has one of the following conditions.
1. Applicants violate the laws and decrees of Chinese Government and disobey rules and regulations of BUAA.
2. Applicants are late for class, early leave, and absence without reason often or offend class disciplines.
3. Applicants fail in examination of the compulsory course.

How to apply

1. Applicants who accord with the requirements are required to submit the application materials to Foreign Student Affairs Office.
2. Beihang University establishes the Committee of Foreign Students Scholarship (CFSS). The members of CFSS include the leaders of university, principals of Academic Affairs Division, Graduation School, International School, International Division and Financial Division as well as relevant experts and professors. The leader of university will be the director of CFSS. The Secretariat of CFSS will be set up in the International School. The principal of International School will be the secretary-general of CFSS and is responsible for a daily routine.
3. After evaluating the qualifications of the applicants, the Secretariat will hand in the name list and documents of the applicants who accord with the requirements to CFSS.
4. In case of need, CFSS has the access to inform students to interviewing. The final name list will be confirmed by CFSS and become effective by the signature of the director of CFSS.
5. The evaluation results will be informed to applicants by formal letters and publicized on the website of International School in July.
