"There is a dragon in the far East." With a curious yearning, I came to China in 2013. I graduated with a master's degree with a good command of Chinese, and am currently doing my doctorate at Beijing Institute of Technology.
Unlike most children in the world, I was born in a war-torn country. From childhood to adulthood, I have always had a dream – to see a peaceful, secure and developed Afghanistan.
Why did I come to China? Just as one lyric goes, “following your heart, and chasing your dreams.”
My stay in China has already enabled me to understand and get used to many aspects of the country.
It has been more than a year since I came to Liuzhou. I want to use one word to describe the impression Liuzhou has on me, that is, “spicy” .
In my memory, China has been a distant yet familiar place.
Time flies. It has been five years since I left my home country, Yemen. And I feel so lucky to have come to China to study.
