Precious time in CUC
When studying at the Communication University of China (CUC), Lin got the Confucius Institute scholarship in 2016. He hoped to improve his teaching skill of Chinese, and learn more about Chinese language and culture.
In the CUC, the atmosphere of learning Chinese is very different from it in Thailand. Teachers teach in Chinese through various and lively activities. Lin's Chinese has improved by leaps and bounds.
He was deeply impressed by the teachers who had taught him in the CUC.
"Professor Zhang Jing often reminded us of grammatical mistakes in learning and teaching process," he said.
He said, "My academic tutor Le Qi often shared her teaching experience and materials with me, such as how to teach reading and writing lessons. She also offered me textbooks and slides, as well as some special teaching plans to help me improve my teaching skill."
Lin's application of Chinese goes beyond the campus. He participated in the CCTV 4 "Happy Chinese" show, enjoying a taste of Chinese international communication TV programs in person. Besides, he learned calligraphy at the CUC Calligraphy Research Center to experience profound Chinese writing culture. A variety of activities related to Chinese have added a bright color to Lin's study in China.
Devotion to international communication of Chinese
Lin has been teaching Chinese at a high school in Bangkok for over five years.
Teachers in Thailand are not well paid but he said, "I am happy to be with my students and see them make progress. I regard my students as my own children."
Being a teacher is really busy and hard. Chinese lessons are not compulsory in Thailand, but he often gives free tutoring to students who are interested in Chinese. As he said, he is happy to see his students pass the HSK, or Chinese Proficiency Test.
Lin has devoted himself to international communication between China and Thailand. He has also encouraged Thai students to learn Chinese at CUC. He hopes students can learn the Chinese language and culture, taste Chinese food and communicate with local friends.
Lin used to take students to visit Beijing in their spare time, going to scenic spots and historic sites like Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Summer Palace, so as to help his students gain a deeper understanding of Chinese culture.
"Today's effort makes tomorrow's success." Lin illustrates these words perfectly with his own experience in learning and teaching Chinese.
