A group of around 130 international students from East China Normal University in Shanghai recently took part in a field trip to enrich their Chinese cultural experiences.
During the two-day trip, they visited museums, as well as participated in various cultural activities at Chongming, Jinshan, and Fengxian in Shanghai.
At Fengjing Ancient Town in Jinshan, the students savored the beauty of the Chinese ancient town and experienced local customs that showcase the culture of Jiangnan, the area south of the Yangtze River.
They also learned to make peasant paintings, as well as learned about the history and origin of form of painting that is unique to Jinshan.
At Chongming, the students visited the Chongming Planning Museum and Chongming Museum to learn about the city's development history and modern planning. A tour of Xisha Wetland also helped them better understand how it influences the natural environment.
They also tried making Chongming cakes and dumplings, experiencing traditional Chinese food culture.
