Thirty-three universities from East China's Jiangsu province, Hong Kong, and Macao launched an alliance on Dec 16. The launch ceremony was held in Nanjing and Hong Kong on the day.
Initiated by Nanjing University, University of Macau, and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the alliance is centered on the principles of openness, sharing and win-win cooperation.
Wu Zhenglong, Party chief of Jiangsu, said at the ceremony that the province will provide support to the alliance as well as create an enabling environment for young students to start businesses and pursue dreams in Jiangsu.
Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, chief executive of Hong Kong, said she expects the alliance to leverage the strengths of all parties to create more development opportunities for scholars and students in the three regions, as well as make achievements in innovation, education, and promoting excellent traditional culture.
