Janko Šćepanović, a Montenegrin postdoctoral fellow from the School of Politics and International Relations of the East China Normal University (ECNU), shared his life in China at a special micro-documentary titled Going Forward Together for 15 Years.

The year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Montenegro. The Croatian Language Department of the China Media Group has produced the documentary to celebrate this event of special significance to the friendship between China and Montenegro.

In the third episode of the documentary, Šćepanović shared his study, work, and life in China, illustrating Montenegrin President Milo Đukanović's high evaluation of China-Montenegro friendship.

Šćepanović came to China in September 2016 to pursue his PhD in International Politics at Fudan University. With the help of the Chinese government scholarship, he received his degree in June 2020.

In view of his research achievements in Russian foreign policy and other fields, he joined the School of Politics and International Relations of ECNU. Under the guidance of his co-supervisor Prof. Liu Jun, Šćepanović continues his academic career in China and continues to promote Sino-Montenegrin ties.

Šćepanović deeply cherishes his experience of studying and working in China.

"The scholars I met at Fudan University and ECNU have provided valuable insights into my work, especially their views on China's relationship with Central Asia and Russia, regionalism and similar topics. In the future, I hope to continue my interaction with Chinese people and other colleagues at ECNU to expand my understanding of these interesting topics," said Šćepanović.

As a young Montenegrin scholar living in China, he has the most intuitive perception and expectation of China-Montenegro relations.

Šćepanović said, "Since the independence in 2006, the relationship between Montenegro and China has gradually developed. About 20 years ago, few people in my country knew much about China. However, the experiences and travels of Montenegrins who have studied or worked in China and Chinese living in Montenegro over the past 10 years have enabled the two countries to get closer and enhance the understanding of our citizens of the two countries."

The documentary was broadcast on Radio iTelevizija Crne Gore (RTCG) from Dec 15 to 17, and is available at CRI Online and croatian.cri.cn.
