Part.1/School Introduction

There are currently 20 full-time teachers of history in the school, including 4 professors, 9 associate professors, 7 lecturers, and among them 9 PhDs, with senior title teachers accounting for 65% of all teachers.

Since 2012, the school has been actively involved in the construction of the National Special Needs PhD Program of "Minnan Culture and Cross-Strait Exchange", and the "Talents Training Project with Minnan Cultural Characteristics". In 2020, it set up the "Indochina Peninsula Research Center" approved by the National Ethnic Affairs Commission as part of the "Belt and Road" Regional Nations Research Initiative. In November 2016, it established the provincial research platform of "Fujian Overseas Chinese Hometown Cultural Research Center". In 2021, the history discipline was elected as a Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Discipline Construction Site. In November 2021, history discipline received the Teacher Education Certification from the Ministry of Education. In recent years, the school has won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 4 third prizes in the National Skills Competition for Normal Students; 2 first prizes, 10 second prizes and 14 third prizes in the Fujian Normal Students Skills Competition.

Part.4/Program Description

Focusing on talent training, we implement a five-in-one teaching system of "lecture, reading, seminar, professional training, and research". Through systematic study, students will have a broad knowledge of history and a solid theoretical mastery, be versed in the basic knowledge, theories and methods closely related to the discipline, familiar with the history, present situation and future trends of the discipline at home and abroad, and will possess strong scientific research ability.

Part.5/Employment Prospects

Graduates will be able to undertake teaching and scientific research in history and related fields. They will be equipped to work on management or other positions in party and government organs, government cultural relics management and research institutions, various museums and exhibition institutions, and various enterprises and public institutions. In recent years, the employment rate of undergraduates has reached 91%, and the main employment areas are various schools, scientific research institutions, party and government agencies, enterprises and public institutions, and cultural and museum institutions. Some students have been admitted for postgraduate studies by Edinburgh, Sheffield, and Shimane University in Japan.

Part.7/Master Degree Supervisors

Jianhong Wang

Wang Jianhong, doctor of history, professor, doctoral supervisor, currently the dean of the School of History and Geography of Minnan Normal University. He studied at the History Department of Northwest Normal University, the History Department of Lanzhou University, and the School of History and Culture of Nankai University, and obtained a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and a doctorate degree in history respectively. He has taught undergraduate courses such as "Modern World History", "World Modern History", "American History"; postgraduate courses "History Teaching Evaluation Theory", "Historical Theory and Middle School History Teaching"; "Chinese Clan History Research" , "Inter-related Clan Family Research", "Cross-Strait Clan Family Communication".

He has published more than 40 academic papers in journals such as "World History", "Social Science Front", "Southeast Academic", "Fujian Forum" and "History Teaching".

He successively presided over the completion of the National Social Science Project "Anti-monopoly and American Democracy's Adaptation to Industrialized Society", the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Project "Anti-monopoly Institutional System Establishment and American Society's Industrialization Transformation Research", "Research on the Establishment of American Anti-monopoly Institutional System from 1890-1916.", "Research on the Application of Anti-monopoly Experience in Developed Countries" and other national, Ministry of Education, Fujian Provincial Social Sciences and Education Department scientific research projects; presided over and completed a number of other horizontal scientific research projects.

Sisi Dong

Doctor of history, lecturer, associate supervisor of master students. His study focuses on the social economy and social culture since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. At present, he is devoted in the research of rural social culture in the collectivization period. He joined our school in 2020, and has taught courses such as "Ancient Chinese History", "Chinese Cultural History" and "Introduction to Folk Historical Documents". He has published a monograph (in cooperation with others), and several papers in journals such as "Open Times" and "Global History Review".
