Forty-two international students from 15 countries, including Nigeria, India, Zimbabwe, Ghana and the United Kingdom, recently took part in a cultural exchange activity themed on low carbon in Zhenjiang, East China's Jiangsu province.

The students visited a photovoltaic power station and the Binjiang Wetland Park, a zero carbon park powered solely by renewable energy, in Yangzhong, a county-level city of Zhenjiang. During the trip, the students learned about advanced technologies and practices regarding power production and consumption.

Seminars about topics like low-carbon innovation and climate change were also held during the activity.

The students then visited Huaiyin village to enjoy idyllic views and learn about rural development. Over at the memorial hall of Pearl S. Buck, the Zhenjiang Museum, and Jinshan Lake, they gained more knowledge about the city's history, culture and natural landscapes.

The activity is part of the "Understanding China" campaign promoted by the China Scholarship Council. Aimed at enhancing cultural exchanges, the campaign features various activities catered for international students in China.
