Academic consultancy ShanghaiRanking recently released its Global Ranking of Sport Science Schools and Departments, and seven universities from the Chinese mainland are included on the list, with Shanghai University of Sport being listed in the global top 50 for the first time.
Shanghai University of Sport, founded in November 1952, is one of the first sport universities in China. It is jointly administered by the General Administration of Sport of China and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. Its faculty members include world champions, athletes, and international and national referees.
The university has made a number of notable accomplishments over the years, including the establishment of the China Table Tennis College, the world's only institution of higher learning dedicated to table tennis, and the China Martial Arts Museum, the first of its kind to feature an all-encompassing exhibition of martial arts history and culture.
