The National Nature Science Foundation – the body directly affiliated to China's State Council, for the management of the National Natural Science Fund – has established and has been running an outstanding young science fund project (overseas) program since 2021.
That's in order for it to further improve its talent funding system, give full play to the function of the foundation in introducing and training talent – and to attract outstanding young talent from overseas to work in China.
Yunnan University is employing outstanding young talent from overseas. The following are announcements concerning the recruitment process:
Requirements
1. Applicants should abide by the laws and regulations of the People's Republic of China.
2. Applicants should be born after Jan 1, 1983.
3. A doctorate degree is needed for the applicant, with the main research interests being natural science or engineering technology.
4. Before March 15 this year, after obtaining their doctorate, applicants should have had a formal teaching or research position for more than 36 consecutive months in an overseas university, in research institutions, or in enterprise research institutions. For those who have obtained a doctorate overseas and have made outstanding achievements, the length of working life requirement may be relaxed appropriately.
5. Applicants' achievements in science research or technology should have been recognized by peer experts.
6. Applicants should not yet have returned to China for work or returned to China for work after Jan 1, last year. They must have left their overseas jobs and returned to China to work full-time for at least three years after receiving the offer.
Salary and preferential treatment
Talent employed by Yunnan University will receive an annual salary and allowance of no less than 600,000 yuan ($89,197) after tax which will be paid monthly, as well as a housing subsidy of 3.5 million yuan (pre-tax) and research start-up funds of 4-6 million yuan.
Talent will enjoy the public benefits of career establishment teachers, including social security and medical insurance and other benefits. Preferential medical treatment in affiliated hospitals and children's schooling in affiliated schools is included.
