As the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Rabbit approaches, Shanghai University's College of International Education is planning a series of activities for international students to bid farewell to the Year of the Tiger, and welcome the Year of the Rabbit, according to its International Student Service Center.

The activities in celebration of the upcoming Spring Festival, which falls on Jan 22 this year, and Lantern Festival, which falls on Feb 5, consist of a lecture on The Rabbit in Chinese Culture, a Chinese New Year's Eve Carnival, Sending New Year's Gifts, Afternoon Tea with the Dean, and a Lantern Festival Celebration.

During the Chinese New Year's Eve Carnival, which will be held on Jan 21, the counselors of the International Student Service Center will celebrate with international students. They will watch the fantastic Spring Festival Gala together and enjoy amusing games with surprising "blind boxes".

Wonderful gift packages representing the university's best wishes in the Year of the Rabbit will be sent to international students on Feb 22, the first day of the Chinese New Year.

During the Afternoon Tea with the Dean on Jan 26, representatives of international students who stay on campus will have a face-to-face chat with the dean of the College of International Education about their studies and life during the winter vacation.

Colorful activities including guessing lantern riddles will be organized on the day of the Lantern Festival and international students will be able to experience the Chinese intangible cultural heritage during the celebrations.
