Shanghai's Tongji University held a closing ceremony on Feb 11 for its two-week online "Chinese Bridge" workshop, which was held for foreign Chinese language learners.
The workshop consisted of Chinese language and culture courses and related activities to help the foreign participants improve their Chinese language proficiency and better understand Chinese culture.
Liang Yijun, a workshop supervisor, said he was gratified to see students learn more about Tongji University, Shanghai and China each day during the workshop and hoped to see them again at Tongji University.
A participant from Bangladesh said the workshop helped deepen his understanding of China. He shared his work experience in China at the closing ceremony and expressed his hope to strengthen the cultural exchanges between Bangladesh and China.
Gizem Silik and Yeliz Silik, twin sisters from Germany, recounted their unforgettable memories of visiting Tongji University during their middle-school years, and thanked Tongji University for giving them Chinese language learning opportunities through the online workshop, and hope to study at Tongji University in the future.
Students who have studied at Confucius Institutes affiliated with Tongji University, participated in Tongji University's workshop activities and performed well in the programs would be given priority when applying for admission to Tongji University, according to a teacher of international Chinese education at Tongji University.
