I have been concerned about you for quite a long time. Who am I? I’m you a year ago. Do you remember those dreams we had talked about when you were about to graduate and acquire your bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering? I always like to check in on your progress, but more than that, I want to give you my blessing and also encourage you to utilize every minute and opportunity you have in China. Therefore, you will never feel any regret when you come back to Nigeria.
Has your mandarin improved greatly? Did you apply for the master’s degree program you wanted? I hope those answers will be yes. I understand that you have always envied and have looked forward to becoming those people whose mandarin is as good as their English. You might assume that this is impossible for a foreign student to achieve in a couple of years. However, I do believe you have the potential to be fluent in mandarin.
As long as you keep studying Chinese language diligently, one day you will finally speak and write like a native speaker. I have heard someone say that if you can tell a story to a Chinese native speaker fluently, that means your Chinese is good enough. No matter if you can do that, or not yet just remember to stay positive and confident about yourself!
One year ago, due to the Covid 19 pandemic happening all over the world. You worried about how you can bring positive development to Nigeria after experiencing the rapid development in China. Is this still troubling you now? Life is full of challenges, especially for a foreign student from an extremely different culture and knowledge background.
However, even though you haven’t achieved all your goals, please don’t look down on yourself. Remember, you have a unique and treasurable personality that no one has. Moreover, I believe your hard-working and active attitude will help you to make up for the unfamiliarity with the culture and professional knowledge in order to bring more development to your country.
