Yes, the Chinese philosopher, named Lao Tzu has rightly said. My thousand miles’ journey begins with getting to know the various innovation to which I have always been interested since my adolescence. Exploration in China is one of them which inspire me to know more about its enrich culture and architectural heritage.
For example, as the origin of Kung Fu, the world's seventh wonder - the Great Wall, a world heritage site -Forbidden City (Imperial Palaces of the Ming and Qing Dynasties) and many more things whose list is very long. On the other hand, more exploration opportunities of mine have been created through studies in China. Yes, I am an international student of Wuhan University of technology, my name is Fowzia Akter. All teachers and fellow of Wuhan University of Technology(WUT) know me with my Chinese name 丫丫 as well. I am from Bangladesh.
My journey at Wuhan University of Technology was significant, a part with the year of 2021. Which was a challenging time during the epidemic, when the whole world came to stagnancy. During this epidemic, we all have been learned how to work together with patience and any task can be taken to the ultimate peak of success with unity. Since 2019 I have been involved in different extracurricular activities in addition to my studies, that was real challenge for me as a foreigner to adapt with new environment and perform every tasks successfully. But I think this is the beginning of a new chapter and more innovation ahead.
In the beginning of 2021, I had the opportunity to work with ICEA (International Cultural Exchange Association) team at Wuhan University of Technology and the supervisor of this organization is Ms. Nicole. For the second time (2021-2022), I started working here as the Head of the Liaison Department. Where I actively lead and patriated in different volunteering and cultural exchange activities such as; guiding students, designing posters, notice for activities, organizing cultural activities and so on. In mid of the year of 2021, the meeting with Chinese and International ICEA was held through the objective of looking forward to work with new administration and advanced way. I was the responsible of whole management of organization and to introduce all departments work with new heads and members.
In addition, throughout 2021; I was in charge of many activities with the collaboration of Wuhan University of Technology(WUT), International Student Office (ISO), School of International Education (SIE) and International Cultural Exchange Association (ICEA). Among the activities- holiday movie time, Chinese new year party, tree plantation, environmental day and so on. Where the participation and acceptance of students was much higher and they breathed a sigh of relief into an invisible web of epidemics.
In the end of 2021, I started working with a new organization through volunteer team, the proposed community name Foreign Community Care (FCC) of WUT which got the full support from Wuhan University of Technology and International Student Office (ISO), Which was quite challenging to introduce everyone with this new project. And finally we have been able to start our new chapter successfully with new community. The supervisor of this organization is Ms. Cai.
Foreign Community Care(FCC) started its new journey with various activities. For instance, World AIDS day; the collaboration with youth volunteer associations of seven colleges, where the aim was to raise awareness about AIDS, the way of prevention, and send messages to AIDS patients on behalf of international students. I would like to mention about other activities, like- “Wellbeing for international students” where mainly purpose was students’ physical and mental health. In addition, “The Fitness Revo” training program organized by FCC is still working with the aim of improving physical health and healthy lifestyle among students. It is an ongoing activity of FCC which take place on every Tuesday and Thursday from 7: 00pm to 8:00 pm at Nanhu Activity Room.
To recapitulate, I would say throughout the year of 2021 was part of my journey with tremendous experience, I am optimistic in the future that I will be able to engage myself with more work of WUT where the key principle is to work with unity.
