Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) won the honorable title of Shanghai Universities' Excellent Cases for Overseas Students Studying in China, which was recently announced by the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.

Over the past few years, SUFE has implemented the fundamental task of cultivating people by virtue, improved the quality and efficiency of education and continued to spread Chinese culture and tell Chinese stories through a variety of online activities.

SUFE has built an online education platform for classes and extracurricular activities. One example is the paired learning system between international students who study preparatory courses and postgraduate students majoring in International Chinese Language Education, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. Another key program is the writing contest that promotes learning through competition.

The university also creates a broad stage for students to showcase their talents and unlimited creativity in multiple aspects. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China in July 2021, a chorus consisting of overseas students sang the original song Flowers from the Other Shore.

Over the past two years, SUFE has launched 13 online courses on Chinese culture and a series of cultural activities. For instance, it set up the Cloud Business Museum where students can learn about the history of China's insurance, bills and banking industries in the form of a live broadcast. During the Spring Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival, the school held special events to let students experience paper-cutting, tying Chinese knots and how to make zongzi and mooncakes.

Since 2022, SUFE has helped international students return to campus and helps them with their mobile phone services and payments. More than 20 overseas students also joined the campus' volunteer team during the prevention and control period of the COVID-19 pandemic and the cumulative service time exceeded 2,000 hours.
