The Office of International Student Affairs of Shanghai Polytechnic University (SSPU) recently held a lecture on law popularization education for international students.
The lecture was given by Deputy Director Liu Huayu and Officer Tang Hairong from the Zhangjiang University Police Station, Chief Xu Wei and Chief Chen Jing from the Foreign Management Group of Pudong Entry-Exit Office, as well as Mao Xinrong, deputy director of the SSPU Security Department.
The lecture focused on laws and policies, drug and scam prevention, campus safety, as well as other legal related matters to remind students to abide by the laws and to strengthen their safety awareness.
At the lecture, Liu explained to international students the types and hazards of drugs, as well as China's laws and regulations on drug crimes, reminding all students to stay away from drugs and have a healthy life. She also introduced common new types of scam cases for students, imploring them to always keep alert, protect their personal information, and be aware of fraud tricks.
Xu explained the policy that students need to pay attention to visa applications, laws, and regulations in detail. International students are required to register on the police system in time after coming to China or after they change their residential address, he said.
Mao explained university discipline, asked the students to maintain safety awareness, as well as gave suggestions on fire prevention and theft prevention. He reminded students to protect themselves and be responsible for others.
