Five international students from East China Normal University (ECNU) in Shanghai who received Chinese government scholarships recently attended a three-day themed camp in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the "Experiencing China" program.

The camp event was hosted by the China Scholarship Council and held in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, attracting about 200 teachers and foreign students from 19 Chinese universities who had taken part in previous "Experiencing China" activities.

The "Experiencing China" program was launched by the China Scholarship Council to help international students visit more parts of China and gain a deeper understanding of the country, as well as share their thoughts and experiences with more people. Its participants play an active role in promoting friendships between the peoples of all countries.

At the opening ceremony, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Education, Shenyang Normal University, and the Beijing Institute of Technology shared their experiences in organizing "Experiencing China" activities. In addition, Chinese Government Scholarship students from nine universities, including Peking University, shared their feelings and insights of the activities through interviews, songs, dances, and recitations.

Song Lile, an American student majoring in Chinese Language and Literature at ECNU, shared her bond with Chinese characters around the theme of "Chinese Culture" at the ceremony.

During the camp, the students visited the Shenzhen Reform and Opening Up Exhibition Hall, Lianhuashan Park, Huawei, as well as Qianhai Industrial Park, which not only helped them understand Shenzhen's development and changes over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, but also allowed them to experience the advanced technology of Chinese enterprises and the vigorous development of China's economy.
