Hosted by the information office and foreign affairs office of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Government, the "Discover Jiangsu: exploring natural world heritage" event started in the picturesque Yellow Sea National Forest Park on May 30. The park covers a total area of more than 4,500 hectares and has a forest coverage rate exceeding 85 percent. It is recognized by UNESCO as an unpolluted coastal paradise along the western coast of the Pacific.
On May 31, the foreign participants visited the Tiaozini wetland, which serves as a resting, molting, and wintering ground for millions of migratory birds. Nearly half of the world's remaining spoon-billed sandpipers, known as the "panda of birds", stay at the wetland for up to three months every year.
In the fishing village of Badou, the foreigners had the opportunity to witness a provincial intangible cultural heritage item called "Fisherman's Chantey". The village has developed a unique tourism industry, and the number of homestays, seafood shops and restaurants has been rapidly increasing.
