Thirty-nine international students from 23 countries participated in the "Discovering China - Exploring the Modern & Ecology Root of Shanghai" event on June 3. The event was organized by East China Normal University (ECNU).

During the event, the students got to learn about the rapid development of modern agriculture in China as well as the culture and style of Shanghai.

On the morning of June 3, the students visited the Jinshan Modern Agricultural Park, where they learned about the development of the Chinese agriculture industry and advanced agricultural technologies such as intelligent greenhouses, automated irrigation, and precision fertilization systems.

The students also got to try their hands at operating small farming vehicles and picking vegetables and fruits such as tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and okra. Every student left the agricultural park with a bag of fresh vegetables as well as a better understanding of how modern agriculture in China works.

In the afternoon, the students visited the Guangfulin Cultural Relics Park and explored the origins of the city and its ancient way of life through well-preserved relics. They also learned about the development of Shanghai's culture and how the city evolved from a small fishing village into a global metropolis.

The "Discovering China - Exploring the Modern & Ecology Root of Shanghai" activity also provided the students with the opportunity to experience the integration of Shanghai's green ecology and culture.
