The China Daily International Readers Seminar kicked off at Shanghai University on July 31.

During the seminar, 12 international students from Shanghai University shared their experiences of studying and living in Shanghai. They then discussed the contrast between their preconceived notions of China and their firsthand experiences.

The participants also delved into the challenges faced by Chinese media in presenting China to the world, and put forth their ideas and opinions on developing an international service platform catered towards expats who have recently relocated to Shanghai.

The international students shed light on their methods of obtaining information in China and offered suggestions on what kind of information they need to better adapt and integrate into Shanghai.

Lin Shujuan, a senior editor at China Daily, expressed her appreciation to the expats for their valuable suggestions and encouraged them to share their stories of China.

China Daily will continue to cater to the diverse needs of its international readers and will enhance its efforts to build Shanghai’s international service platform, which will help expats to better understand and adapt to life in the city.
