East China Normal University held a welcome day on Sept 15 in East China's Shanghai for the new semester of its featured Chinese language program, with more than 120 international students from over 20 countries participating.
The event incorporated ice-breaking games, encouraging students to get to know each other at the university, also known as ECNU.
Guided by teachers and teaching assistants, the students worked together in teams, completing a series of games that fostered unity and team spirit.
Zhang Lu, assistant director of the university's Global Education Center, delivered a warm welcome speech to the students, wishing them a successful and fulfilling semester - with the acquiring of knowledge and wonderful memories ahead of them.
During the welcome day, Josary Josephine from Indonesia shared her positive learning experience at ECNU, inspiring other students to approach the new semester with the same zeal.
To help international students gain a better understanding of Shanghai, its culture and the Chinese language programs offered, three lectures were provided.
The teachers also gave tips on how to overcome potential cultural shock, instilling a sense of anticipation and excitement for the academic journey to be had at ECNU.
