China Education Exhibition 2023 held in Indonesia

China Education Exhibition 2023 was held in Jakarta on Oct 17. It was jointly organized by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) and Ticket Station in Indonesia. Featuring 40 representatives from 21 universities and institutions in on the Chinese mainland, the event attracted over 2,000 Indonesian students and parents to visit and seek information. Students showed a keen interest in the participating Chinese universities and many of them expressed their intent to study in China.

The exhibition was supported by the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia and the Indonesian Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MOECRT). Xia Jianhui, deputy director of the CSC; Zhou Kan, acting charge d'affaires ad interim and minister of the Chinese Embassy in IndonesiaCharge d'Affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia; Yayat Hendayana, a coordinator for cooperation, public relations, and general affairs and the directorate general of higher education, research, and technology (DGHERT) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (MOECRT in) of Indonesia, and Sudjadi SudjiantoLi Tuansheng, chairman of Ticket Station, delivered speeches and officially opened the exhibition.

In his speech, Xia emphasized the importance of educational exchanges in promoting friendly international cooperation, in which international students play an irreplaceable role. He stressed that China has always welcomed outstanding young talents from around the world to come and study, and praised the role Indonesian youth played in strengthening the friendship between the two countries. He expressed the hope that the exhibition can could encourage more Indonesian students to study in China and to build bridges between the two countries.

Zhou congratulated the opening of the education exhibition. He mentioned that it was in Indonesia that President Xi Jinping first proposed the Belt and Road Initiative. Iin the past decade, China and Indonesia have built strong ties. In the field of education, the two countries have reached agreements in mutual recognition of higher education qualifications. Chinese Government Scholarship-Silk Road Program"Silk Road" government scholarships have been given to Indonesian students, and nine Confucius Institutes at Indonesian universities have been established. The "Chinese Bridge" language competitionBridge competition has been held more than 20 times, fostering a diverse and vibrant cultural exchange between China and Indonesia.

Hendayana, in his address, highlighted the strong ties between Indonesia and China in various fields. In higher education, 410 cooperation agreements have been signed by 179 Indonesian higher education institutions. He hoped that the exhibition would provide more information and assistance to Indonesian students interested in studying in China and that educational exchanges and cooperation between the two countries would continue to strengthen, bringing more benefits to students of both countries.

In the exhibition, M. Lukmanul Hakim, a representative of The Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education of the Ministry of Finance, gave a briefing about Indonesian national scholarships and promised to support students studying in China.

China Education Exhibition has been held in more than 50 cities in over 30 countries since 1999. Through these exhibitions, the latest educational information in China were was brought to young people abroad, topnotch Chinese educational resources were promoted and relevant policies highlighted.
