The inauguration ceremony of the Cambodia-China University of Technology and Science, a collaborative effort between Nanjing Vocational University of Industry Technology and the Federation of Khmer Chinese in Cambodia, was held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on Dec 20.

As China's first overseas applied technology university for vocational education, the university offers students the opportunity to obtain degree certificates from both China and Cambodia. The university's curriculum currently includes six undergraduate majors: new energy power generation, automotive service, network engineering, e-commerce, modern logistics management, and tourism management.

Wu Yan, vice-minister of education, noted that in recent years, Sino-Cambodian educational exchanges and cooperation have deepened significantly, particularly in the field of vocational education. China has established 19 overseas educational institutions and projects in Cambodia, contributing to the cultivation of high-quality technical talent, and the new university is the latest achievement in educational collaboration between the two nations, added Wu.

Hang Chuon Naron, deputy prime minister and minister of education, youth, and sport of Cambodia, expressed his hope that the university will play a vital role in human resource development in line with Cambodia's labor market needs.

The collaborative efforts between the education departments of Jiangsu and Cambodia have borne fruit in recent years, and Jiangsu universities have recruited and trained nearly 1,800 Cambodian students in the past five years.
