The Chinese Cultural Experience Camp for Italian Youth commenced in Hai'an, Nantong, Jiangsu province on April 3.
At the opening ceremony, students from the Experimental Primary School of Hai'an High-Tech Industrial Development Zone performed Dai ethnic dances, choruses, and kung fu fan routines, while students from the Italy-China International School, a sister school of the Hai'an school, sang Italian songs and their school anthem.
Thirty-eight teachers and students from the Italian school then spent a week taking unique courses and experiencing Chinese culture up close with their counterparts from Hai'an.
Jin Zhiwei, director of Hai'an's overseas Chinese affairs office, said that the activity is an innovative initiative designed to increase understanding and foster friendships between young people from both countries. He expressed hope that both schools will continue leveraging their respective strengths to achieve greater success in promoting cooperation in teaching, spreading Chinese culture, and facilitating exchanges and mutual learning between China and other countries.
