To implement the Belt and Road Initiative and meet the needs of Chinese employers for recruiting international talent, the 2024 Career Fair for International Students in China and Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei GT2HR Recruitment Fair for Global Talents was held on May 18 in Beijing.
The job fair, organized by the Ministry of Education's Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE) and co-hosted by Peking University and the Beijing Overseas Talents Center, was held to open a path to internships, employment, and entrepreneurship opportunities for international students in China.
Over 30 prominent enterprises and institutions took part, including CRRC Corp, Ltd, Sinopec Engineering Inc, Huawei Technologies, NUCTECH Co, Ltd, and Westlake University. These organizations represented a wide range of industries, such as business, education, engineering, healthcare and IT.
Nearly 1,800 international students from more than 60 domestic universities attended the fair. Participating institutions included Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University, the Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Normal University, the University of International Business and Economics, Fudan University, Nankai University, and Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Students came from over 110 countries, including the US, Canada, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Egypt and Algeria.
Information sessions were held at the event on policies related to internships, employment, entrepreneurship and residency for overseas talents in China. These sessions attracted significant interest from students and company representatives alike.
Since 2016, the Ministry of Education’s Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange has hosted nine recruitment fairs, engaging nearly 330 employers and attracting about 25,000 international students. These events have been instrumental in supporting the international development of Chinese enterprises and educational institutions, enhancing China's international student service system and boosting the appeal of the "Study in China" brand.
