Beijing International Studies University (BISU) celebrated the opening of the 10th International Culture Festival on May 30, attracting a diverse crowd of Chinese and international faculty, staff, and students from a total of 35 countries.
In his opening address, Cheng Wei, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC BISU Committee and vice-president of the university, commended the event as a platform for cultural exchanges and for building friendships among students from all over the world.
Stage performances and cultural exhibitions both shine at the festival.
Accompanied by energetic music, students from 35 countries in traditional attire began their performances. From exotic hula and Latin dance to passionate band music and rap shows, the richness of various cultures was celebrated during the two-hour show.
Meanwhile, the international culture displays were also in full swing in 40 booths in five exhibition areas. Students from different countries exhibited their unique cultures in diverse forms, including traditional handicrafts, mouth-watering delicacies and beverages, breathtaking scenic exhibitions and magnetic cultural interactions. The stall of China, in particular, drew attention with its display of intangible cultural heritage items such as lacquer fans and calligraphy, engaging both Chinese and international students.
Themed "Celebrating Harmony and Beauty and Jointly Building a Community of Shared Future for Mankind", the event showcased the richness of world cultures. It not only helps international students to further understand Chinese culture, but also provides a platform for them to demonstrate their own cultures.
