At the gala, Chinese students performed folk music, instrumental music, folk dance, and street dance, while American students recited and sang ancient Chinese poems in Chinese and presented Chinese umbrella dance and Mongolian dance. At the end of the event, all sang "Song and Smile" together, expressing goodwill and best wishes for each other.
"I think today's event is very educational and cultivating, and I have learned a lot," McOrell Kouevi, a 14-year-old student from Baltimore International Academy East, told China Daily, mentioning that some of today's performances reminded him of his experience in China and "my Chinese friends".
He said was in China this spring and liked it. "It was very enjoyable...Also, the people there are very friendly and outstanding."
