Chongqing's Sichuan International Studies University hosted a collection of Russian performers on Friday in celebration of China-Russia Years of Education, which runs through 2027.
Russian artists from seven art studios, dance troupes, and vocal ensembles joined students and teachers from Chongqing for an exciting cultural exchange. The highlight was a performance that brought both sides together for a dazzling display of song and dance, Peking Opera, musical theater, traditional Chinese clapper talk, fashion shows, and small instrumental ensembles.
During a speech, Gou Chaoli, deputy Party secretary of SISU, hailed the event as perfectly embodying the message of China-Russia Years of Education. "(The performance) provides a dynamic stage for our students to use art as a medium and culture as a bridge, showcasing the spirit of the youth in the new era and expressing the heartfelt friendship between China and Russia," Gou said.
The day's activities also included Chinese arts and crafts, such as lacquer fan making, sugar painting, and calligraphy.
"The event allowed me to meet many Chinese friends, who are very warm and welcoming. I really enjoyed this cultural experience," said Anastasia, a 22-year-old from Novy Urengoy, after practicing calligraphy.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation. Chongqing is one of the 22 Chinese member organizations of the organizing committee for the Years of China-Russia Education.
